Brook has surpassed his teammate Joe Root, now sitting 18 points ahead of him, with Root dropping to second place. Shubman Gill, the captain of India’s Test team, made remarkable contributions of 269 and 161 in the second Test, which India triumphed in by 336 runs, allowing him to rise 15 places to No. 6, achieving a personal best rating of 807. The rankings also feature Kane Williamson in third, Yashasvi Jaiswal in fourth, and Steven Smith in fifth place.

England’s wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith also benefited from the outcomes of the Edgbaston Test. His outstanding performance of 184* in the first innings, which saw him partnering with Brook to rescue England from 84 for 5, followed by a score of 88 in the second innings, propelled him up 16 spots to No. 10.
