Kylian Mbappe has not fully recovered from an ankle injury.
Mbappé exited the match during the 75th minute of Madrid’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal at the Santiago Bernabéu on April 16, following an ankle sprain.
The star player missed Real Madrid’s 1-0 victories over Athletic Club and Getafe in LaLiga last week and was striving to regain his fitness in time for the final at La Cartuja in Seville.
Madrid Coach says about Kylian Mbappe
On Tuesday, Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti mentioned that Mbappé “could potentially be available” for Saturday’s match and that he was “doing everything possible to be fit to assist the team.”
This season, Mbappé has netted 33 goals across all competitions for Madrid, including in three finals: the UEFA Super Cup victory against Atalanta (2-0), the FIFA Intercontinental Cup triumph over Pachuca (3-0), and the Spanish Supercopa loss to Barcelona (5-2).
However, some of his performances have faced criticism, leading to fans booing him at the Bernabéu as he left the field against Arsenal, and again when he was shown on the stadium’s big screen while watching from the stands during the Athletic match.
Due to his absence, Ancelotti has chosen Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo to start in the attacking positions for Madrid at La Cartuja.
On the other hand, Barcelona will continue without their 40-goal striker Robert Lewandowski, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Ferran Torres will replace him, flanked by wide players Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
Additionally, Gerard Martín remains as the left-back substitute for the injured Alejandro Balde, while Dani Olmo is chosen over Fermín López and Gavi to join Pedri and Frenkie de Jong in the midfield.
Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is included in the squad after being out for seven months due to a knee issue, although he will sit on the bench, with Wojciech Szczęsny taking the goalkeeping duties.
