Jack Draper secured him a spot in the world’s top five rankings for the very first time.
At just 23 years old, Draper’s swift progress makes him the first British player to break into the top five since Andy Murray, accomplishing this feat with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Matteo Arnaldi in a match that lasted only one hour and 17 minutes.
Having claimed the biggest title of his career at Indian Wells in March, Draper is set to surpass Novak Djokovic in the rankings when they are officially updated on Monday.
Jack Draper’s records
Draper finished the first set against Arnaldi in just 25 minutes, before navigating a tougher second set while maintaining a lead over the world No. 66.
The Brit’s commanding performance was highlighted by the fact that he only lost 10 points on serve and did not face any break points throughout the match.
“I feel more powerful each time I compete,” Draper shared with Sky Sports.
“Previously, I felt like I was always on the defensive against these players, so part of my development was to enhance my physical capabilities to execute my game plan effectively and take charge against them.
“I’ve been performing well across all aspects, and I’m eager to continue this momentum. I hope it keeps coming together.
“I look at players like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who play fearlessly, and I just want to embrace that mindset.
“My forehand is really effective, and I aim to maintain that level of play.
“I’m aware that I can either win or lose any match. While I do have a fear of losing, it drives me to compete as intensely as I do.”
