Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee on Wednesday, and the team has indicated that he should be ready for training camp “without any restrictions.”

The Celtics announced that Brown had a minimally invasive surgery to clean up his knee.

This procedure follows reports from ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne in May that Brown ended the season with a partially torn right meniscus. He played through this injury during the final month of the regular season and throughout the playoffs.

Sources mentioned that Brown started receiving pain injections in his knee beginning in March.

Jaylen Brown’s NBA performance

A four-time All-Star and the MVP of the 2024 NBA Finals, Brown recorded an average of 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists this season, marking his ninth year in the NBA. His role will be even more crucial next season, given that co-star Jayson Tatum is anticipated to miss a significant portion of the 2025-26 season while recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon that sidelined him during the playoffs and thwarted the Celtics’ chances of repeating as NBA champions.

Brown is set to earn $53 million in the 2025-26 season, which is the second year of a five-year, $304 million contract that is the most lucrative in NBA history.
