This marks the first time Bronny James has been included in the Lakers’ starting rotation during his fledgling NBA career. The son of NBA icon LeBron James has come off the bench in 26 games for Los Angeles this season.
With both Luka Doncic and LeBron resting during the regular-season finale, the younger James will have the chance to join the starting lineup.

Bronny has faced a significant learning experience in his debut NBA season after being selected by the Lakers in the 2024 NBA Draft. He was sent down to the G League in November after struggling with a shooting percentage of just 1-of-6 over his first 13 games.
However, James Jr. began to hit his stride, scoring 39 points for the South Bay Lakers. In addition, he contributed seven rebounds, four assists, and multiple steals. Following this career-high performance, he was called back up to the NBA.
The game on Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers should offer James Jr. some crucial playing time as well as allow veteran players much-needed rest ahead of the playoffs.
